CONAN Caterina the Destroyer

Ahh, my Bose 201 speakers. I'm fond of them more for sentimental reasons than anything else.

I got them back in the early '90s when I was working at my first job as a cashier in a department store. Oh, the months of sacrifice I did to save the ~$200 for them. I never bought other speakers until we bought our first home and got some Paradigm Studio 20s for our small listening space. Still, I've always used the old faithful 201s as my rear speakers. My 201s survived my first daughter.

But they didn't survive the Destroyer.

As you'll see the photos, Caterina completed the job -- from her ruthless destruction of the tweeter, to her merciless snapping of the front grille. Not yet satisfied, I discovered she stuffed old photographs into the bass woofers. (a cruelty I choose not to show). What perverse joy she must have felt.

"You can replace speakers, James, but you can't replace kids". Words I have to keep reminding myself.

Amen. :-)
